Privacy Policy

Welcome to IQ Hall Academy (“we”, “us”, “our”). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) describes what information we collect, how we use it, how we may share it, how we protect it, and your choices regarding your information. This Policy applies to all users of our services, including students, parents/guardians, teachers, school administrators, and others accessing our websites, applications, or software (collectively, the “Service”).

If the Service is used by a school or other educational institution, the collection and use of student-related information (“Student Data”) will also be subject to this Policy, our Terms of Service, and any applicable education-privacy laws.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the Service (for example: as an individual learner, a parent, a teacher, or a school), and depending on account type, we may collect different types of information in order to operate and improve the Service:

  • Account & Registration Data — when you (or your school, or your parent/guardian) register for the Service, we may collect your name, email address, payment information, username and password, and (if a school) school-related information.
  • Profile Information for Child/Student Users — for child or student accounts (e.g. linked to a parent or school), we may collect a profile name (which may not be a full legal name) and optional data such as a profile avatar.
  • Usage and Activity Data — when you use the Service, we collect data related to your use: questions answered, submissions, progress, responses, scores, and other activity or behavior within the Service; as well as metadata like device type, browser info, IP address or other device identifiers.
  • Communications and Correspondence Data — if you contact us (e.g. for support, billing, school-related coordination), we may collect the information you provide (e.g. name, email, school affiliation, messages) to respond.
  • Payment Information — if applicable, we collect billing and payment data when you subscribe to paid plans or services.

We may also obtain information from third-party service providers (e.g. for authentication, single sign-on, or integration with external systems) if you (or your school) choose to connect via those services.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information for purposes including, but not limited to:

  • Providing, maintaining, and improving the Service (including user authentication, access control, and delivering educational content)
  • Tracking progress, generating reports or analytics, and providing feedback to users or to schools/teachers (for student accounts)
  • Billing, payment processing, subscription management, and account administration
  • Communicating with you — for account notifications, notices, support requests, updates, and improvements

Where Student Data is involved (i.e., when the Service is used by schools or parents/guardians), we use the data strictly for educational purposes, in accordance with our agreements with the school or parent, and applicable law. We do not use Student Data for targeted advertising or marketing.

3. How We Share Information

  • We may share information with our trusted vendors or third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf (e.g., hosting, analytics, billing, authentication), but only to the extent necessary to provide and support the Service. They are bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under age 13 except when authorized by a parent/guardian or a school, and we do not share such children’s personally identifying information with unaffiliated third parties for marketing or other non-educational purposes.
  • Aggregated or de-identified information (i.e., data that no longer reasonably identifies an individual) may be used for analytics, research, or improving the Service.
  • If we are required by law, regulation, or court order to disclose information (e.g., in response to a subpoena or to comply with legal obligations), we may do so.

We will never sell Student Data — any sale of assets or corporate restructuring will include efforts to ensure any successor honors these privacy commitments.

4. Student Data & Child Privacy — Schools, Parents & Guardians

When the Service is used by a school (or by a parent/guardian for minors), the following apply:

  • “Student Data” (or “Child Data” for minors) refers to any personal or academic information related to students or child users (which may include identifiers, usage data, scores, progress, etc.).
  • Student Data remains under the control and ownership of the school (or the student’s parent/guardian), not IQ Hall Academy. We access, store, or process Student Data only under the authority of the school/guardian, and only for purposes authorized by them (e.g. providing learning services and progress tracking).
  • We will not use Student Data for advertising or marketing, and will not build marketing profiles of student users.
  • Deletion or retention of Student Data will follow the school’s or parent/guardian’s direction — once the school no longer needs the data for educational purposes (e.g. student leaves roster), the school may request deletion or de-identification. We will comply, except where applicable laws, backup, or disaster-recovery obligations require minimal retention.

If you are a parent and have questions about privacy or data collected for your child, please discuss them with your school administrator or contact us directly.

5. Data Security & Storage

We take the security of your personal information seriously. We implement a variety of physical, technical, and administrative safeguards designed to protect data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Access to personal data is limited to employees, contractors, or agents who need access to perform their duties. 

However, no security system is impenetrable. In the event of a data breach or unauthorized disclosure that affects personal information under our control, we will take reasonable steps to investigate, mitigate, and comply with any legal obligations, including notification if required by law.

Depending on your location and the location of our hosting or storage facilities, personal data may be stored and processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers maintain operations.

You also have a role in maintaining security: please keep your password confidential, log out after sessions, and avoid using public or shared computers without proper precautions.

6. Your Rights and Choices (Depending on Jurisdiction)

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights with respect to your personal information:

  • The right to request access to or a copy of the personal information we hold about you (or, as applicable, your child/ward).
  • The right to request correction, update, or deletion of personal information (subject to legal and contractual limitations).
  • The right to object to certain processing (e.g., for marketing), or to opt out of promotional communications or third-party tracking (if allowed under law).
  • For residents of jurisdictions with additional privacy laws (e.g., European Economic Area under General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR); certain U.S. states with their own privacy laws), there may be additional rights, such as data portability, restriction of processing, or lodging a complaint with a supervisory authority.

7. Cookies, Tracking & Third-Party Services

When you use our website or Service, we (or our service providers) may use cookies or similar tracking technologies to collect certain information — for example, to remember login status, store preferences, analyze usage, or facilitate features.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, but please be aware that disabling cookies may affect functionality of the Service (e.g., login, progress tracking, personalization).

Our Service may also contain links to third-party websites or services that are not governed by this Policy. Once you leave our Service, we are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites — we encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.

8. Data Retention

We will retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service, manage accounts, maintain business records (e.g., billing history, fraud prevention), or comply with legal obligations.

For Student Data or child-user data associated with a school or parent account: once the school or parent determines the data is no longer needed for educational purposes (e.g., student is removed from roster, account is canceled), they may request deletion or de-identification. We will comply, subject to reasonable time for implementation, backup cycles, or legal retention obligations.

Aggregated or de-identified data (that no longer identifies a specific individual) may be retained indefinitely and used for analytics, research, or improving the Service.

9. Compliance with Laws for Minors & Educational Privacy Laws

When applicable (e.g., if the Service is used by or for minors, or by schools), we are committed to complying with all relevant International, country specific and U.S. and state laws regarding children’s privacy and educational data, including:

  • Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) — for student educational records and data handled for school customers.
  • Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) — we do not knowingly collect personally identifying information from children under age 13, unless via school or properly-authorized parent/guardian consent, and only then as permitted by law.

10. Updates to This Policy

We may modify or update this Privacy Policy from time to time (for example, to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or Service features). When we make material changes, we will post an updated “Effective Date” at the top and, where required by law, provide notice. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.

12. Additional Terms (If Applicable)

If you have a separate agreement with us (for example: a signed agreement between IQ Hall Academy and a school or institution), that agreement may include additional or modified data-privacy commitments or data-handling terms. In such cases, the terms of that agreement will govern to the extent they differ from this Policy.
